What is VMAP ECHO?

VMAP ECHO is a set of virtual learning cohorts offered by VMAP in partnership with VA-AAP. Each cohort has a specialized focus, and these no-cost education opportunities are designed for Virginia PCPs to learn critical, practical skills in pediatric mental health.

All VMAP ECHO cohorts offer an optional 75-credit CME package and an optional MOC-4 QI screening project. This CME/MOC package is priced at a reduced rate of $50.

2025 VMAP ECHO Cohorts

Common Conditions in Pediatric & Adolescent Mental Health

3RD THURSDAYS
12 PM – 1 PM

Teaches skills for integrating behavioral and mental health into pediatric primary care: challenging behaviors, mental health screening and diagnostics, pediatric psychosis, and more.

Birth to 5:
A Deeper Dive

4TH THURSDAYS
12 PM – 1 PM

Addresses infant and early childhood mental health problems as they present for busy PCPs. Discuss neurodevelopmental factors, impact of discipline, attachment styles, and more.

Mental Health of Adolescents & Young Adults

4TH FRIDAYS
12 PM – 1 PM

Explore the 4 Rs (recognize, respond, refer, resources) of mental health concerns faced by youth and young adults. Looks at the transition to adulthood, suicidality, gender dysphoria, and much more.

Early Childhood: Systems of Care for Kids

2ND WEDNESDAYS
12 PM – 1 PM

Community interventions and referral options for PCPs supporting families with young children. Explore positive parenting, early intervention, prenatal exposures, and perinatal disorders.

About the ECHO Model

The heart of the revolutionary ECHO Model™ is its hub-and-spoke knowledge-sharing networks. This format allows PCPs to learn and share their own best practices for how they provide the best care to their patients.

This program is approved as a Continuing Medical Education (CME) Maintenance of Certification Performance Improvement Project, which qualifies participants to receive up to the following credits:

  • 25 AMA PRA Category 1 credits™
  • 25 ABMS (Maintenance of Certification) MOC Part II or Self-Assessment credits*
  • 25 MOC Part IV or Performance Improvement credits*

In order to be awarded credits for participation, all project requirements must be met.

The University of Virginia School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The UVA Office of Continuing Medical Education is an ABMS Multi-Specialty Portfolio Sponsor.
